News From BPS Alumni
Our firm has been in business for over 30 years. As you might imagine, in that time a few folks have moved on from BPS to do some (other) interesting things. For example, BPS alumni are taking over management of the farm credit banking system’s internal control for financial reporting (“ICFR”) function!
Robert Bennett, here in Columbia, is ICFR Manager for AgFirst Bank. As you may or may not remember, Robert was a superstar on our audit team, working in the telecommunications and owner managed business space. He was also one of the first BPS auditors to work on SOC (System and Organization Controls) engagements prior to joining AgFirst.
Now, we have learned that Wright Myer – who launched his career here at BPS as an intern on our tax team – is joining the Farm Credit Bank of Texas in a role like Robert’s. Wright was most recently a director in PWC’s IT Risk Assurance department in Charlotte, where he provided SOC and other IT assurance services to PWC’s finance and insurance clientele.
Little by little, BPS is taking over the world – at least the financial statement internal controls world within the farm credit banking system! It’s very exciting to see our alumni doing great things!
As you may or may not know, our own SOC audit team is continuing to do great things here at BPS too – growing at a 58% CAGR (compound annual growth rate) since Robert left us in 2015-16. Give us a call if you would like to discuss your internal control systems.
