March Telecom Event

Each year, the South Carolina Telecommunications and Broadband Association (“SCTBA”) hosts two major events: a conference and showcase in Columbia, and a convention in Charleston. 2022’s Charleston convention was held March 28-30, and showcased telecom-related topics including partnerships between electric and telecom coops, legislative updates, cybersecurity, broadband funding, and a national perspective on broadband.

Eddie Zimmer and Lindsay Medlin covered broadband security and information technology frameworks, including a segment on historic compliance and regulation trends. The conference was a huge success, with over 100 SC telecom executives in attendance, and our firm was excited to be a part of it all.

For those of you who missed the conference and our firm’s presentation on the importance of implementing the right cybersecurity framework for your organization, it’s not too late to get your hands on the guidance we made available to attendees.  Chris Stormer, Lindsay Medlin, and Eddie Zimmer collaborated on a telecom cybersecurity framework to help companies get their internal controls moving in the right direction.  If you’d like a copy of the framework, or if you have any cybersecurity questions, please contact our Manager of IT Assurance Services, Eddie (Ezimmer@bps.cpa) or our Telecom Specialist Senior Manager, Lindsay (Lmedlin@bps.cpa).
